As a Director, for an After School Program I decided that I was going to focus more on how I prepare my program.One of my goals as a Director I think its very important for me to make sure my IA's (Instructional Assistance) are prepared and ready to complete their lessons each and everyday. The main learning goal for this project is for my IA's to be prepared in the classroom. The Theory I would add would be the Schema Theory and Behavioral and Situated Learning Theories. With my job I have to coordinate and make sure everything is in order and going smoothly. My main focus is the way my students are learning and understanding.
Taking in consideration that The Behavioral Theory would work well with my goals this is because there are certain approaches to teaching that generally involve the classroom and my teachers. For certain goals to succeed I expect my IA's to do a few of the following. Such as, break down certain skills and information for students to learn in small groups. This way they have an opportunity to learn in a variety of ways. Also, I expect my teachers to make sure they follow up with their students especially during Homework help. This time is a time where my IA's need to provide feedback and encourage students to preform at their best. Another important approach would be to have lessons be more "teacher centered" such as lectures, drills, and demonstrations having students learn in this kind of environment will provide the teacher with a controlled behavioral classroom.
